A good friend(maestro media) sent this to me a few days ago and I found this story very interesting. I am sure some people would have seen it too, perhaps as a broadcast ;
She was invited to his place like he normally does, and after a few puffs of smoke and drinking guy starts getting fresh asking to be serviced to which she refuse. When dude saw that he won't get his way, the normally fine boy gentleman turned violent hitting his friend, who returned fire for fire. it took another dimension when he got a weapon and used to lacerate her body threatening to kill her if she didn't strip .Immediately screaming for help and shocked by how her friend had turned into something else,she stripped and was raped. Help finally came but too late. People asked what was wrong and she couldn't explain only asking that the police be called in, guy immediately claimed she was a lay by he picked up from the road who was demanding sex and he refused and started throwing tantrums and lacerated herself. Immediately the victim became the suspect, the rapist demanded that things spoilt needs to be repaired, the molested agrees to pay for damages as long aa he would face the music for violating her. In the twinkling of an eye case changed the raped was arrested taking to the police station on the island. The rapist and influential family arriving aftwrwards demanded that lady writes a statement. With threats of jail and other misfortune and with the connivance of the Police she was coached and coerced on what to write, basically that no rape occured, but that there was an altercation, that the case /story would die abd nothing bout it would forever be heard again. That nothing whatsoever would happen to the rapist or else she would be arrested. After signing she was released with threat that she's a nobody.The lady couldn't believe what has happened to her. She was raped & now a criminal. What would you do?
I would tell you what i would do but first, here are a few things I need to share about "rape"......
Rape is an anti social behaviour, it is an unlawful sexual intercourse with a woman against her will and by force.
Types of Rape include
1. Situational stress rape; normal individuals commit rape under extremely stressful situations and feel guilty afterwards
2. Sociopathic rape; criminals commit rape impulsively and don't feel any remorse afterwards, there is usually threats of violence just like in the above scenario.
3.Sexually inadequate rape; the offender is usually shy and timid and sexually inadequate, he plans the act especially towards an attractive female or a sexually threatening female
4. Sadistic rape; the offender is usually someone who really hates women and carries out the act to inflict suffering and humiliation
5. Psychotic rape; the offender rapes the woman in a terrifying, bizzare and unforgettable manner
Rape has physical, social and emotional consequences, these include the risk of contacting sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancy, sores and genital injuries, disruption of established relationships, occupational loss, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, suicidal ideation, suicidal attempts, suicide, homicide, substance misuse and many more.
Despite all the above consequences, I would tell her to get a lawyer so that she can properly (but quietly) report the case, then seek professional counseling so she can continue life from where she stopped.
Rape victims must report such cases to the police, let the law enforcement guys do their part, then seek counselling for the trauma they have suffered. That is only when their minds can be at rest that judgement may be passed on the offenders. One must always bear in mind that it is not the fault of the victim that she was raped, it is one of the many other unfortunate things that can happen in life. So do the right thing and move on with your life, taking all necessary precautions to ensure that such incidences do not recur.
