Obesity, Soda addiction and Sexual enjoyment. SXT 109.( Part 1;The bitter truth)

Most plus size women have said they enjoy being big, bold and beautiful. In fact when I was a size 14, I didn't want to let go of the excess weight.

I enjoyed the respect it brought and the way men stared at my somtins. The only person who had a problem with it was Baba Ore (as Yoki would say, lol).
Two -ugly- toothpicks (some girls from Med school) made me loose weight, I overheard them talking about how big and unattractive i had become. When I got home that day, I looked into the mirror for the first time and didn't like what I saw. That was when I decided to loose weight and in 3 months, I became a size 8!.

No doubt that being big is considered "African" but the question is, how is your performance in the bedroom?
Has your spouse ever made funny comments about your laziness and inflexibility in bed? Do you feel insecure and ensure the lights are out before you take off your clothes? I have been through these before and I even tried to make it seem ok by believing my man didn't mind my folds.

The truth is that most men don't like their women big especially if they weren't before, although some guys like big curvy women. Adding a few pounds as we age isn't abnormal, we just have to be sure not to add too much, especially in the wrong places. On the other hand, most women like their men with modest abdomen. Most married men also add excess weight after marriage and start to look less attractive. The irony is that they hardly see anything wrong with the weight they are gaining and even make harsh comments about their spouse whose tommy too is now getting bigger. Since we can't cheat on our men, we might as well cheat emotionally with Iyanya and Flavor.
Infact if I am that babe whose husband criticizes her desptite the way he looks, I would paste Iyanya's posters all over the room(lol). There are some guys with humongous potbellies . I met one recently, a good dresser with nice shoes and accessories but I felt sorry for his madam because all I could think about was that some positions would be impossible! Just imagine standing doggy, missionary and wheel barrow, smh*. The question is when you take off your clothes, does she get turned on? Can you even see mighty Joe Young at all?

Nobody is being judged here, we have all been through rough patches. You cannot keep assuming your spouse doesn't want to have sex with you because he/she is cheating on you. You have to entertain the possibility that sexual attraction might be low or even absent.

Did you know that obesity and sexual dysfunction are closely related? Here is how... A recent study from Duke University Medical Center found that obese people are likely to suffer from a number of sexual difficulties including lack of sexual enjoyment, performance difficulty, and sexual avoidance. The research found that obese individuals are likely to suffer from these symptoms up to 25 times more than other peers. The ways obesity affects your sexual health
  1. Most people that are overweight have elevated cholesterol levels and insulin resistance(an early indicator of type II diabetes) leading to sexual problems like erectile dysfunction in men and reduced sensitivity in women.
  2. Excessive amounts of body fat will increase the levels of SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) in the system. This is a natural chemical that binds to sex hormone testosterone, which is also used to provide a healthy sexual libido and increase sex drive. Higher amounts of SHBG means that there is less testosterone left to handle the duties associated with a normal sex life and therefore there is a decrease in sexual desire.
  3. From a mental perspective, being overweight can cause low self-esteem issues, depression due to a lack of satisfaction with one’s personal appearance and diminished libido or lack of stamina.
Reading this piece might stir up some unwanted low feelings now but the truth is that our best friends don't tell us the truth about our body image, the mirror does. The concluding part would be posted soon, stay in touch. Cheers peeps!
